I want healthy chicks.Any tips fpr a first timer?
I bought two chicks from the pet store one is bigger than the other. can they be together? What kind of vitamins can I give to the chicks to keep them healthy? This is my first time with chickens I need all the help I can get. The smaller black one just stands and peeps is that normal? Thank you for your help.

You're talking about baby chickens right?
If you are then I can answer.
Well, they can be together. You don't give baby chickens any vitamins but you do give them starter feed, that will keep them healthy. That's normal for it to stand and peep. Um... let's see you will need to give individual attention to each one of them. You should keep them under a light that will be at a 90F to 99F temperature. Also make sure they have enough water everyday because they go through it very quickly.

The most important thing with baby chicks is to keep them warm with a heat lamp or they will die. It takes 100 degrees Farenheit to hatch out chicks and that temperature should be maintained for a week and decreased by 5 degrees every week until room temperature can be maintained. You also have to give them chick starting feed till they're at least 3 months old and always have water available. If the pet shop could not guarantee their sex, you will not be able to figure that out until they are 6 months old.

What the others said sounds good, but I do not agree that a chick that stands around and peeps is normal. A happy chick will make sweet little 'twitter' noises and eat and sleep, scratch etc. Not a whole lot you can do, check to see that it is pooping and not pasted up. Baby chicks can do that. If it is, wash it's back end carefully until the poo is gone.
