Why is everyone so Depressed nowadays?

Its like everywhere i go, i read about someone feeling depressed or suicidal. I dont remember it being this bad. Im 21 btw.

The recession? Apparently it's officially called the Great Recession.

Because social media has reduced human interaction to texts and brief messages.

Babies will actually die if they aren't touched, so it's a pretty vital biological requirement for us to have real human interaction. When we never truly interact with people, opting instead to do Tweets or Facebook posts, than our brains will not be getting what it needs from interaction. It doesn't promote mental or emotional well-being.

Then there is also the matter of our diet. The foods we're eating nowadays are *extremely* unhealthy. Pesticides, genetically modified, high sugar content, preservatives... these things mess with our body and result in poor mental (and physical) health.

That's not even going into the economic or political climate, where the world alternates between brink of war and brink of recession, all the while people are having to pay higher costs for products while their salary stays low, or their job gets outsourced.

People are depressed because the modern Western way of life that we've created for ourselves is depressing.

They don't live life how they want to and eventually it catches them up.

It's the way people are things are now. Everything has become too draconian and over the top.
