Social media , Texting, and E-mail vanished over night?
imagine that social media, texting, and e-mail vanish overnight. what would happen? how would it affect your social life? would you feel hopeless and alone, or would you still find a way to connect with others? how might society be affected? would millions wander the streets aimlessly, or would many people see an improvement in their lives?

I would feel more alone than usual just because I struggle a lot with connecting with people who are physically around me. At the same time, I would probably feel better because the media is what makes me hate myself. I see picture of women online all day long that are taller, thinner and more beautiful than me, and they attention and happiness they seem to get makes me feel fat and ugly. I feel like being on social media skews my views on what is really beautiful in a person.

It wouldn't affect me. I live on campus, so I can just go outside like usual and talk with people.

So we still have telephones, then? No big deal. Things will just go back to dominant early-mid 90's tech and fax machines will do instead of email.
Life really wasn't that much different back then, FYI.

What a great question. Our culture is based so much on the social media, isn't it. I have always thought it a little scary. I've never liked the idea of it, but look at me. I'm participating in something I never wanted to chose to do. Gee whiz. Anyway, I love the fact that you actually asked a question that's worth answering. I imagine a long period of everyone having no life. Like confused, lost zombies, desperate for a social network to feed on. Then after a long while boredom would rise and perhaps there would be a period of anarchy among us adolescents. And perhaps after a few years we would just trash the culture and raise an army of anarchists merely out of boredom. But then again, maybe not.

Social media has become a huge part of people's everyday culture. Those who have not grown up without technology would have a culture shock of trying to figure out how to communicate with others. You would definitely feel a disconnect from society because of the lack of instant communication. We have grown up with the means of communication being fast and easy and if that was taken away from us our social skills would probably struggle. I have found that I can't even sit and watch a movie anymore without being on my phone also. Theres a pull to be on social media at all times and it would be hard to recover if it disappeared
