Is it wrong to email previous people I used to work with but still keep in contact with about my fundrasier?
I just recently started a GoFundMe page online for my 3 year old dog who needs a $1200 surgery. I shared it on my social media page and I want to expand a little. Anything helps really. Even just sharing. I was thinking about emailing some of the people that used to work with me (we still keep in touch like going out for lunch on occasion) about my fundraiser. Would this be acceptable? I work for a psychologist and it is a very laid back office. Some of the people would include a therapist that I stay in touch with. And then i'll also email family and friends. But is this understandable or would it just be uncomfortable?

Family and friends, yes.

Coworkers and former coworkers, no.

It is really quite RUDE to contact a coworker or former coworker under the pretense of a social visit for the primary purpose of asking them to pay your vet bill.

Do you want your former coworkers to be bugging you to pay for their kid's ear infection antibiotics?

You are not a 501c3 charity so please keep your groveling to your friends and family.

P.S. You should apply for Care Credit. You can get a 6, 12, 24 or 48 month payment plan for that vet bill. And you should also consider purchasing pet insurance.

Very uncomfortable. And if one of my former coworkers who I got together with sometimes for lunch sent me one of those kinds of emails, I'd no longer be having lunch with them. Family and close friends are one thing, but those people are neither, which is just awkward, at least on the receiving end.

Most vets will work out a payment plan with you for something like this.
