Well there in No 3 way link building. The term 2 way link building can also be called as link exchange. It means exchanging links. A link from your page to the other page and a link to the same page back from that page. This is not considered ethical by search engines.

2 way back linking : When site A links to site B and side B links back to site A. i.e. Reciprocal linking
3 way back linking : When site A links to site B and site B links back to site C which is also owned by the owner of site A.

Now link exchange is not effective anymore and it is disapproved by google.
