Well, you can follow many about 2000 people as you want, and a few of them will follow you back. To get started, twitter has a suggest option to suggest you some popular people, or you can search some people match your interests, or location on http://www.utwitbook.com

Did you know that you can get paid to tweet on twitter? Someone sent this site to me last week and thought that was pretty cool
