irritating internet problems?

it's been 3 days now,and my internet is killing me.
i can't get through a you tube video,it keeps dropping and coming back.
i sat as close as i can to the router and it made a small improvement but nothing to speak off.
my first instinct was to reset the router which didn't work,and unplug the cables and everything which didn't work,changing the password which didn't work.
i'm thinking it's tome to change the router it's 3 years old .
what do you think?
