Can someone explain why my internet is so slow?
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3344286936

I'm using a wired connection, I have nothing else running in the background (according to resource monitor).

Here are some other stats from a line test (plz dont laugh):

Packets lost: noneAverage latency: 667.863ms Jitter: 476ms

Also, is there anything I can do about it? (other than call Optus and tell them to suck me off)

Those dicks tell me i'm on ADSL. I'm happy to answer any other questions.

Thanks.

I haven't seen speeds like those since the dialup days... Well, here's a checklist to see what the problem might be:

Are you sharing your connection with anybody else? If so, what are they using it for?
Are you in an area where there may be a weak signal from your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?
What plan did you purchase from your ISP? It might be that you've signed up for a slow connection.

If nothing else, give the guys over at Optus a call and hopefully they'll be able to help resolve your problem.
