Do you consider Mark Zucerberg to be really lucky with facebook?
There were tons of social network sites before facebook. Who the hell would have thought that a new one would revolutionize the market. Zuck was even creating another platform AFTER Facebook was financed just in case Facebook did not work. He even says he was not trying to create a money making machine, just a website for people to connect (as MySpace, Hi5, Friendster, etc). What do you guys think?
Obviouly luck comes to the people that works hard.
I think the Zuck is actually a good salesman. If keeps to himself what is wrong and just mentions the positivie, or twist reality to fit his message. Even in the IPO, investors are complaining that they were kept information on the price of the stock.

I think facebook and this whole social bussines is starting to get out of hand.

Seriously when i visit a damn website i don't want to be spammed with "LIKE US" or "TWEET US" buttons in like 20 places on the pages.

I visited a tech site yesterday, the whole social icons were taking 30 % of the page, this is rediculous.

Not to mention these things are a breeding ground for stupidity, hatred and inculture.

But on the flipside there is some value to them, for people keeping in touch with distant relatives and such.

Finally to answer your question, i don't think luck has anything to do with it, financial backing on the other hand did.

Believe me if he didn't grab the attention of his backers when he did facebook would be just another social site by now.
