What is the best source (book) about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

I am looking for a book which presents steps or techniques of how to push the website's ranking fast in a short time. I need a source which describes the steps precisely, including what exact tools are used.

I don't need another author who writes about what they think or summarizes what he/she found on the web. I need RESEARCH based information, as it is more trustworthy and precise. I've read too much nonsense so far and there are too many people who give useless info.

Something brief, precise, can be EVEN read as a guide/tutorial, based on research and the latest thing of our time (beginning from End of 2013 )!!!
