Should I friend someone I don't know on facebook?
I am an 18 yo girl and I am homeschooled, and I take all of my classes online. I have a few really great friends, but they are all a year ahead of me and moved away for college Sad

I do have classes and work outside of home so I'm not a hermit lol.

I went onto facebook and typed in the search bar "people who are homeschooled and live nearby" and I found a few people who look cool. There's one guy in particular (seriously, just looking for friendship) who has a ton of similar interests and he lives nearby.

I really want to friend these people and get to know them, but I cannot think of any way of doing it that wouldn't be weird. I'm not trying to be weird haha, but I just feel sad this isn't easier.

What do you think?
No I mean I know he exists. He is mutual friends with people I know vaguely who are in a homeschool group, so I know he isn't a fake profile, it's just highly unlikely I'd ever chance meet him in person.

Of course not. That's the problem with being homeschooled, you end up very naive about people.

Expecially trying to judge people based on how they look. There are some evil folks who will set up a fake facebook profile looking for sheltered homeschooled kids to prey on.

It would be better if you and your parents went to some home school gathering. Or you took a college class or two. Or joined scouts or something.

Ask mutual friends if this guy is legit.

"friends" on facebook are really just acquaintances
You could walk into a store in the mall. find someone looking at clothes that you like, and say to them "we have similar interests, can we be friends"
Can you really be good friends with over 100 people?

Go for it, :Friend: him. You can always block him later if you have a problem. 80% of people are fine and fairly "normal" 10% are super introverted and a bit crazy the other 10% are psychopaths. Hope that he is within the 80%. Proceed slowly, chat for a long while, and if you decide to meet, go with a real live friend or relative.at first.

Life is full of risk, you make decisions. Do you bungee jump, or leap out of a perfectly good aircraft, or go rock climbing up 1,000 feet without a rope? Some people do, and all these are much more dangerous than friending this guy

Hey im home schooled too and your not a hermit for that. Whats the worst thing that can happen if you accept a random person its not like you will have to marry him. i accept people i don't know sometimes unless they bug i don't see anything wrong with that.
