What is the connection of bandwidth and download speed ?

I recently get internet from cable with bandwidth of 128kbps but when I downloaded one thing,it gives me speed of 250+ kbps.Then this question comes to my mind because I mistaken bandwidth and download speed.

In principle both are same.

Bandwidth is the capacity of the cable. If it is rated 128 kbps then it is capable of transferring 128 kb of data in a second. The rating in the cable is wrong if u get 250 kbps+ download speed.

In my opinion bandwidth is directly proportional to the download speed. The higher the bandwidth the higher will be the download speeds.

Internet speed with bandwidth of 128kbps can always will give you max. downloading speed of 16kb/s and Internet connection with bandwidth 256kbps will give you max. downloading speed of 32kb/s and so on.
