A Mac desktop? You want a toy, spend a fortune and buy a Mac. You want a computer, spend a few bucks and get a PC. Dont be mislead by Apples lying ad campaign. Your Mac WONT be compatible with the software and hardware market. Your Mac WILL be twice the price of a PC and half as powerful as a PC. Your Mac WILL cost a fortune at repair time. Your Mac WONT be anywhere near as upgradeable as a PC. Gaming on your Mac? Forget it!
GEE! What a bargain! You can get somebodys used Mac for the price of a brand new Hi end PC.

Get an iMac, the entire computer is built into the monitor and they look amazing. Check out the link, the 20" monitor is nice, but if you have the extra cash spring for the 24". Really any of the iMacs will have the ability to complete all the tasks you plan on using it for.

Get an iMac, they're great machines for exactly what you describe, and you can get a like-new refurb directly from Apple for a bargain price, too (see link, below)!
