Like on Facebook and twitter. Regardless of any reason given, is this okay?

Yes my sister and her husband always use to have fights over fb so she blocked him. They're good now, she's hardly on there anymore. If for NO reason on partner blocks the other well then that's an issue !

No, for either gender.

If they need to block them then there is something to hide.

I have seen some block their significant other because one has some jealousy issues and it causes some conflict but I think there is a bigger problem there than being blocked on social media.

Social networks can and have destroyed many relationship. My spouse and I got off when we first got together. To the point he is definitely hiding something.

It perfectly fine don't open every door because you don't know what behind and place the illusion of secrets every time. That means the person breaking in is insecure.
