When I want to get on security on my mobile app, it tells me to put in a phone number. Why? And should I? Please help. I don't want to put my number out there, but what does security mean? What will be under it?

Twitter asks you to put a mobile phone number because if someone else tries logging into your account, or you forget your password, they can quickly send you a text message, you're more likely to check your texts than you are emails daily.

The number only goes to Twitter and isn't actually out in the open, it is a way to increase security on your account but isn't always necessary.
