Do you reply to random people messaging you on facebook?
I just got a facebook ( I know I'm lame ) last week. I'm 14 years old and I get friend request from older guys and I don't wanna seem snobby so I confirm them. Well a lot of the time right after I confirm it the guy will message me "hi" or "hey". I don't answer, is that being rude? Idk why but it just seems creepy when he messages me. I mean I don't even know him and I would think he would say something like "don't really know you but what's up", ya know? Do you message random people back?maybe I'm being stupid, just my creep alert is going off lol

its up to you : if you are asking about personal opinnion , i never accept (once in a bluemoon i might) the friend request of someone i don't know .

BUT the whole reason of making a facebook account is to make friends all over the world isin't that right if you only wanted to chat with the people you know then you can use gmail (google talk)or yahoo massenger.

but be careful while sharing the information with the unknown people . over the internet (facebook , twitter ... etc )

Do NOT friend anyone you do not know, unfriend all NOW, they will most likely not even realize you unfriended them. Your personal safety is number one, limit FB friends to FAMILY and CLOSE Friends, those you see everyday. Ask your mom or dad to monitor your site once a week to assure your safety. Enjoy hobbies and activities you want to learn about - I am interested in Astronomy - Art - and Music, I keep my wanderings to postings I want to learn about. You do not need to be friends with anyone to visit their page - to enjoy reading a post, or enjoy a picture they post. You do not need to accept a friend on FB to *LIKE a picture or learn. Enjoy Facebook and the learning opportunities. To socialize stay with close friends and take classes to expand your life experience. Enjoy your life and practice personal safety always.

Listen, Lauren - You're 14 years old and really shouldn't even be allowed on line until your parents have given you the lecture of being smart on the Internet. Since you think it's rude to not confirm a friend request, do you also think it's rude not to accept a ride from a stranger in real life? Yes, it's the same thing. A stranger is a stranger.

Your parents are being irresponsible by not supervising you, at least at first, so they could teach you what is and isn't appropriate for a girl your age to be doing on line.

Do not listen to the person who told you that Facebook is so you can make friends all over the world. That person isn't taking your age into consideration, or the fact that you find it creepy that random older guys are asking to friend you, then message you when you confirm. It IS creepy. It's like an older guy hitting on you at the park. Do not friend anyone you don't know. Until you are older and less naive, you need to treat the Internet like the real world. You don't talk to strangers in the real world, so don't talk to them on the Internet.

Delete all these random "friends", then block them so they can't find you again. Trust me on this.
