Is Creating a subdomain forwarding to the main site an issue for SEO ?

E.g. I have a domain named abc.com and now i created a subdomain named xyz.abc.com

I am forwarding the subdomain xyz.abc.com to my main site abc.com
(I am using xyz because it is a keyword in my business name)

Am i doing it right ? Or is there an issue with this ? Will this affect my ranking in search engines by any chance ?
