Poll:Best Place to watch irrational Swine Flu Paranoia Unfold?
Twitter?
General Media?
Right here on Yahoo Answers?
Other...?

Personally, I'm getting a kick out of all of the questions here on Yahoo Answers that go something like this: "OMG I JUST ATE PORK RGHT B4 I HERD BOUT SWINE FLUES!!"

It really is entertaining. Seriously, get a grip folks. This isn't the first Swine Flu scare (back in the 70's, that was the first), and what's more: the disease is entirely treatable! There's even a freakin vaccine already on the market.

So where is everyone else watching the hilarity ensue?

General media. I love how all newspapers find obscure (until now) "experts" who tell us that we will all die. But Yahoo answers is also great. It's wonderful how the ignorant masses don't even bother to learn anything about any threats, but just start screaming right away.

Network Television - Ground Zero for Drama in lieu of Content!

Lets' see: The world is in complete turmoil, there has never been more real news to report in every single facet of our lives, governments, business, schools, healthcare, nutrition, future, security or finance.

Yup, a um, er 'pandemic?' based on a few cases ought to take top billing. We watched the network news while getting ready for school/work today and had to only laugh out loud.

I agree that the media in general is making a mountain out of a mole hill. You are also correct in saying that this isn't the first swine flu out break. You are also correct in saying that it is treatable. You are wrong however in saying that there is a vaccine. They are working on one already, but there is not one available at this time for this strain. This is the flu, just like any other flu you need to take precautions. At this time what is disturbing to medical professionals and emergency agencies alike is that this particular strain mutated so quickly, it seems to mimic the Spanish Flu in it's genetic make-up. At this time it is no big deal, but what professionals are worried about is this fall/winter when it comes back. However, by then we should understand this strain better and be able to treat it better and have a vaccine available.
