Is it pretty safe to talk to people on tumblr?

I messaged a few mutual followers on tumblr, but one of my real friends told me it was dangerous because they could be pedophiles, I'm almost 17, and I'm pretty sure I can make my own choices. Plus I checked these people out before I made conversations with them and they seem legitimate. I wouldn't talk to people if I was suspicious, and I'm not giving out my phone number or address or anything. Is it pretty safe to talk to people on tumblr, and do you?

Just don't give out too much info, like where you live and stuff like that. Talking to people is fine. If they get weird, just don't talk to them. They can't do anything then if you need t do that. For extra safety, never give your full name, first name I usually fine, especially if the name is a common name.

The thing about the internet is; You can never be too sure who you're really talking to (Unless, they show their face, or you know them in real life)


So, regardless tumblr, you always have to make sure you're keeping your private information on a low level in any social websites.

& Make sure, you know which links you're clicking on because sadly, I've heard many people's computers are being hacked into through tumblr.


Anyways, like I said; Just make sure what you're about to type isn't something that can be tracked down into you, yourself.

it's safe anywhere on the internet if you're being cautious about what you do. don't give away any information that can help track you down, etc

websites like tumblr are great because you can get advice/consolation about your problems by people you have stuff in common with.
