Search engines now generally work on the full text of a site, rather than just a few keywords.

Just make sure any relevant phrases are used in the various page bodies.

The real critical things are to ensure every page has a unique & preferably fairly short title (as shown in the page header or tab on a browser).

Having a decent & consistent menu with links to the other main pages, and preferably having those with simple, functional names, will help the search engines 'understand' the site structure.

It needs to have mainly original content with minimal outside links on normal pages - if it looks like a list of links it will get poor results as there are many thousands of link sites already.

Do not point different domain names directly to the same site. Have one main working domain and any alternates going to 301 redirects to the main site.

Also run all pages through the w3c markup checker and make sure there are no syntax errors in the html - remember it's a 'robot' reading the page source, and if it can't follow the markup the page will not get a high rank.

Do everything right and with fairly unique or stand-out content, and within a week or two you should get on the first (or at least an early) page of Google results, with full 'site links' to your main pages below the headline listing.

I've achieved this reliably with both our own web sites and customers sites, so I know it can be done if you put the effort in.

Yes, the latest algorithm can affect your website rank if its not satisfying the criteria of that algorithm. You can take help from "Higher Than Ltd" as they are giving professional SEO services in Glasgow.
