Help with Facebook notifications?

I keep getting notifications about whatever any one of my friends is doing on Facebook, whether or not it relates to me or not (which makes for an annoying amount of notifications). I have the "Close Friends Activity" turned off in my settings, so I don't understand why they're still coming.
Help..? Did I miss something..?

You need to click the arrow next to your friend's notification and choose either

"I don't want to see this"

"This is spam"

"Unfollow [friend's name]"

Do one thing, just unfollow them permanently or block them.
