How can i promote my music?
I am an 20 year old aspiring artist/rapper from columbus ohio which may turn heads but i think i at least have the potential to be good. The problem is i dont have alot of support neither do i have alot if any at all connections in this industry.I posted a freestyle i did on Drakes poundcake and got fairly good responses when i posted it to soundcloud. This being said i didnt promote it on facebook or any other social networking site. Most of the responses came from unknown listeners. The thing is i dont have a twitter of instagram but i do have a facebook w/ not many friends and a tumblr with about 30 followers.Im going to record my first song soon which i think is good with me only given minor effort and hopefully soon after shoot a video.Im very creative and talented but even my friends dont think i really have a shot at this being that its a 1 and million type industry. My point is would i need to make a twitter and what are other ways i can promote my music that can actually get me noticed.Ive read in these past couple years of artist getting discovered by one song or two songs by it going crazy over blogs but im sure they have more support than i do.Any advice would be appreciated expect someone telling me how impossible it is because im aware of all the probabilities.

You need to post things on social networking, all of them!!!

Then, if your songs are good and the right people end up listening, you might get contacted.

Do you perform anywhere??? Have you done open mics and things like that? You need to build some fans in the Columbus area before anyone outside will bother with you.

While it is easy to get your music out there these days, it is the same for everyone. I had an interesting conversation with someone about this recently. All of the music you used to hear on the radio came through companies with talent scouts and people who knew how to make and promote music. Now, anyone can put their video up on youtube. While it is easier to get your music out there, it is a lot harder to get noticed.
