Why has google dropped indexing my website?
We have a website at onlinepassportphoto.com. In last January (in 2012) we used to get around 500 visitors from Google Search but something went wrong and now we don't get more than 15 visitors from Google Search Engine. We are abiding to all of their rules and guidelines but not sure why Google is punishing us. Any clues or tips will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Rahul and Jake.
* The drop in traffic is gradual- not sudden.
* I have Google Webmaster account. No warnings or no major errors. In the Index Status section, it says 228 files submitted but only 1 indexed!!!
* How can I see too many links from beststocktradingbook.com? I did a search on beststocktradingbook.com website but found links from only one page. I will keep looking for this and remove them.
Thanks

If you are abiding by all rules and guidelines then it seems strange. Could you run a keyword tool to check your competitors? May be add some new articles and content for the website.

You were not removed, there are still some 128 pages in the search results, you might have gone down in ranking due to some algorithmic change at Google.

Did passport-pictures.com take a hit as well ?

If one experiences a sudden drop in search ranking,. it's a good practice to look for a drop in search referral traffic in your server logs that coincides with the date of one of the updates you can find in this calendar of algorithm changes.

They do send out human reviewers on no particular schedule as one of the Panda filter measures. Adding more general public service articles like preparing to travel guides might broaden your search matches a bit.

If you registered the site with Google Webmaster Tools you could receive warning messages when they don't like something. Many are getting "unnatural link pattern" warnings these days, since Google has raised their SEO spam quality levels. Your site's 86 links seem like no threat, though you could do a better getting a few links from more relevant sites, like travel forums and blogs, too many links from one site like beststocktradingbook.com don't help as much as you would think, site-wide blogroll links, popular for paid links can raise suspicion.

Your not the only website that had this happen to....it's called the Google Slap....in otherwords you were not posting back-links anywhere else to click on so the key words are no longer applicable to your website....start posting back-links and the traffic will once again start....also add in some new key words and meta tags.........

PS: I would also strongly suggest making a blog at blogger.com it's free ....then linking that blog to your main site......then every 2 weeks add an new post to the blog and within a few short months your rankings should start to increase.........

Crawling and indexing are processes which can take some time and which rely on many factors. In general, we cannot make predictions or guarantees about when or if your URLs will be crawled or indexed. When looking at a site's indexing in Webmaster Tools, make sure that you have both the "www" and the "non-www" versions verified and have a set a preferred domain. Keep in mind that while a Sitemap file can help us learn about your site, it does not guarantee indexing or increase your site's ranking.
