Do routers affect speed of wired internet connections?

I know that dual-band wireless and all those high-tech 802.11ac/g/n stuff affects wireless speeds. Does it also affect my internet speed if my computer is connected through an ethernet cable?

No and yes. A cable PC is not affected by 802.11 b,g,and n as they are just different types of radio waves. Your wired connection is completely independent of the wireless devices. The only thing that they share in common is that they all end up going through the same, single connection to your ISP. The more devices you put on that connection, the slower the devices are going to be because there is a limit to how much data they can transmit per second between your router and the Internet itself. If you have faster "N" devices, they will use more bandwidth and slow your wired device more that a slower "G" device would. But it the difference would be minimal. Your speed is going to be affected more by how many devices you have on the same router (including other wired devices) not by the version of 802.11 they are running.
