when you make it dont forget to copy right it. just put

all rights reserved by (your name or company.) also talk to the site you will be using to make your site, and see about getting a back up of your site. anything can happen, it can easily go down or you can easily lose wifi connection and never get access to it if you needed to update. also print out a page of your site and all the information that only you can see just in case copyright is violated. to show proof that you own rights and own the site. also if you allow ads on your site, never click on them. and also leave your number and an alternate number or email that people can contact you at. always have alternates good luck

"start my own website" is rather vague, a website is a tool used as part of a business, you don't mention if it will be for selling products or services and affiliate marketing site or a "publication" that would be selling ad space.

It's common to start out by creating a blog based publication in hopes of eventually getting the search engineer ranking and traffic that can make it practical. It can require a long term investment to see profits from such a site, it might be wise to defer monetizing until it develops a following, writing about a subject you have a passion for can help one stay motivated for the month it can take to build up such a site, the ability to write engaging full length (500+ word) articles may be the most important skill, though writing can be outsourced.

Your websites must be content rich, product page, post or other pages must be proper layout so your visitors can find what they want easily. They might even bookmark your site for visit again. Try to use unique articles for web content, this will help in search engine high ranking. Besides selling affiliate products, you also can sign up with Advertisement Network and earn the fee when visitors click on displayed ads. Popular one like Google Adsense etc.

There are many things you need to get right to launch a successful website that you plan on actually living off.

However, first thing's first, you need to make sure you create a robust, well designed website. I use WordPress to build all of my websites. Here's a quick step by step tutorial video I created showing you how to build a WordPress site from scratch:
