A forum is a place where people can chat about subjects, ask questions and get feedback. There are plenty of blog forums out there which you can find with a quick search. I use: http://www.bloggeries.com/forum/forum.php You have to sign up but it's worth it to get the extra views on your blog.

You use tags on every post so say you do a post on lipstick reviews you could tag things like, "lipstick" "review" "makeup" "maybelline" "mac". Basically, the key words of that particular post.

To promote your blog, you should try social media. Twitter, Facebook, Bloggers.com. You can create pages for your own blog but you could also look for pages related to beauty and comment on there and tell people about your blog. Also, visit and follow other blogs like yours. They might just return the favour. Smile

Hi there. I will attempt to answer your question part by part:

1) Yes, forums can be a good way to get traffic. Here's how:

Find a popular forum that is relevant to beauty. Most forums say at the bottom how many members are currently active, so find a few options and compare them. Spend your time on the forums with the most traffic. (UK traffic ideally)

Make sure you are allow a link in your signature (I recommend linking to your latest blog posts rather than just your home page).

Contribute regularly, turn up every day and answer questions, be helpful and become well known... Traffic will follow.

2) I think you're talking about SEO. That's a big topic, there is a lot to learn, so you will need to invest some time in this. Here is a helpful post on the basics:

http://www.thinktraffic.co.uk/complete-seo-basics

My first recommendation though it to get your own domain (rather than using a free blogspot domain). This will unfortunately cost money and you may need your parent's help with payment etc...

The benefit to having your own domain though is that you will actually own your website (blogspot could theoretically close down in the future and you would lose your website and all your traffic along with it).

3) Same principal as the forums - comment on relevant blogs. I would suggest picking a handful that are popular (you can judge popularity by how many twitter followers, facebook fans etc they have) and comment on them regularly, every time a new post is published, leave a helpful comment. Guest posting on these blogs will also be a good way to get a traffic boost.

Oh, and make sure that your blog posts are helpful, well written and thorough. Don't write about yourself, write about your target reader - give them a reason to want to read your blog.

Get on social media, beauty orientated forums, other beauty forums and engage with people via these things. Sticking a link here and there won't build up your traffic as links can be easily overlooked but if you go to someone directly who you feel may be interested in your blog you're far more likely to get a hit.

You can use tags to help with your SEO and it's good to do some keyword research to ensure you put the best tags possible! If you need help with keyword research take a look at my blog http://www.mintonlinemarketing.net/keywo...damentals/ and that should help!

Hope this helps and if you need anymore help feel free to get in touch!
