How do you gain followers on Instagram?

My cousin has like 706 followers and she only follows 188 people.. She also only has 55 photos... And she doesn't HASHTAG a lot so how does she have so many followers and how do you gain so many...?

Option b: be so big a douche that people follow you either out of pity or just to see what you post next.
Option c: Have friends...
Option d: delete Instagram because those who use it are stupid attention seeking pricks who have probably never even had a conversation with as many people follow them.

Honestly I think buying followers is really dumb. I have 62k on Instagram (@awk0cheerio) and get an average of about 3k likes a pic. I do shoutouts for small accounts to help them but not too many sfs. I comment on a lot of smaller accounts pictures and say I like their account or say its cool, and it really makes a good impression when they know you care about smaller accounts. You can also go under hashtags and like pictures, or go under a big similar acc and go under their followers and spam them. Hope I helped!
