Maybe the antenna in your Laptop is shot.

I would look into buying an external antenna which can be bought for around $30.

Sounds like Malware or could be hardware issue too. Hard to tell what you really got going on. I work for Shawk Technology Inc http://www.shawktech.com I run the operations and constantly checking for malware and virus issues. We deal with 1000's of people daily and hundreds of thousand of hits to the site monthly.

We also deal with WordPress which it's self has many security issues. So one of the tools we use is http://www.malwarebytes.org grab a copy from a friend or download it onto USB then install on your machine and run full scan.

Turn on your wi-fi switch. There is sometimes a function button to change the wi-fi on and off. Re-set the adapter in the device manager.Maybe re-install the wi-fi driver. Check that someone didn't block your laptop through the router.
