Computer Help (ads and pop ups)?
I have Google Chrome and I have AdBlock Plus. But as of lately, I have been getting pop ups. I click on a website or link (like a news story, youtube, facebook, etc) and a window shows up. And I have been getting ads from the side and bottom telling me about books and a bunch of crap I could care less. I have Microsoft Security Essentials. It may not be Norton, but its kind of works. When I had Norton, everything was great on my computer. I downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials, it was fine for a few weeks and now I'm getting pop ups.

I have AdBlock too, and it doesn't seem to work properly for me either right now. It's probably just the addon.

Go to tools-Expensions(addons) and check if you have any strange addon that you dont know... If true delete it and restart your browser

You probably have an adware infection. Use AdwCleaner and Junkware removal tool. Then Malwarebytes Antimalware. Also check out this site to learn about using your windows host file to block ad's. http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

Disconnect your computer from the Internet. Even if you have google chrome closed, as long as there is a connection available, the spyware may be connecting and causing damage. Unplug your computer from its modem or the modem from the wall.

Check your "Add/Remove Programs" list from the control panel. If you see a spyware program listed, uninstall it. If you see a program you are not familiar with but are unsure whether it is spyware, check it out before removing it.

Run your antispyware program. If you run it and are still receiving pop-ups, especially if you are still disconnected from the Internet, turn your computer off. Start it again and press the F8 key repeatedly until you see the "Safe Mode" option. Run the antispyware program while your computer is in safe mode.

Revert your system to a date in time prior to the spyware infiltration. Go to the Start menu and point to "All Programs." Point to "Accessories" and then point to "System Tools." Click "System Restore" and follow the instructions on the "System Restore Wizard."

Hello,

Sorry for the trouble. I am Vineeth and I am from the Norton Support team.

Can you please run a scan using the free Norton Power Eraser tool and see if it detects anything: http://www.Norton.com/npe?

It may also be due to some of the extensions in your browser. Please go to Tools > Extensions in Chrome and see if there are any new or unwanted extensions added.

Thanks!

Vineeth
