TBBT: How can anyone find Sheldon Cooper annoying?

I can't fathom why. I can totally see how he can be a major nuisance in real life but aren't his ridiculous habits and exaggerated behavior THE show? I find his ignorance towards socially acceptable behavior and his arrogance appealing and funny actually, for the lead character of such a major sitcom. How can anyone dislike him to such an extent, and even create an Anti-Sheldon Cooper facebook page for that matter? Really?

Sheldon comes off as an arrogant and willfully self-centered snot, UNTIL you realize that he genuinely doesn't get social conventions and therefore isn't intentionally being rude. There is a bit of a learning curve involved, though, in getting from "this SOB p1sses me off" to "that's just Sheldon". The Sheldon haters you mention probably never bothered to take the time to figure that out.

I think people just have different senses of humor so they may find his character traits unfunny. Also, a some people resent the character because they feel his portrayal mocks smart people.

I think we're SUPPOSED to find him annoying, but Jim Parsons makes his such an adorable & loveable character that you can't hate him!!! He's just too loveable!!!
