major internet problem!?

Ok so about a week ago I went to update java. It said I was not connected to the internet when I was. This was also happening with guild wars 2 and a couple other things that require and internet connection to install. Now today, I can't do that on top of not being able to use my internet browser at all. My laptop is connected to the internet.

To sum it up:
1. I'm connected to the internet and it works fine with things already updated and installed that require an internet connection.

2. I can't install aanythingthat requires an internet connection.

3. I can't use my internet browser at all.

4. I have chrome. I dont think this is the problem.

5. I have talked to comcast and it has nothing to do with them. Its something to do with my computer.

6. I've looked on some other website and have not been able to find anything except to reset my ip adress and I've done this. I've also uninstalled constant guard, this was also suppose to fix both of my problems.

The first thing I would try would be a system restore to before you were having the problem.I don't think that will work but it's worth trying in case it has something to do with a messed up setting or program.Now what I think the problem is your computer is infected and the malware has messed up your setting.It's a long road back trying to figure out what happen and getting a program on your computer to run a scan.You need to first check your internet setting.Go to control panel,network and internet, then click on internet options,then select the connections tab Now click on Lan setting.It should be set on Automatically detect setting.If this has been changed you need to check Automactically detect setting click ok then apply if given the option or click ok.
