As a waitress/waiter would you accept Facebook Friend Requests from Customers?
I'm a waitress and this guy (whom I've only seen once and really only talked to for less than 2 minutes before I had to go) keeps sending me a friend request on Facebook. He just said "You're beautiful," we introduced ourselves, asked where I went to college, and not much else..

He looked to be about late 20's...

If you were a waitress/waiter and in this situation would you accept a customer's friend request? Unless I saw HUGE potential for a relationship, or if we really became friends, I wouldn't bother accepting it because I think it's unprofessional and can make the workplace awkward if he comes in again...

What would you do? Would you/have you accepted friend requests from customers? Just curious Thanks! (:

No it is never okay to be Facebook friends with
someone just because he is a customer.
Maybe get to know him personally with friends
around ( safety +privacy).

You have no idea what type of guy he is etc.
Plus, customers can be friendly, but really, you
don't know them.

There are weirdo s out there. Not everyone is
as nice as they seem.
Very few are really nice people.

You spoke to this guy for less than 2 mins? He
keeps wanting to be friends?
What next? Stalking? Declaration of love?
Wanting to marry?
Think Twice !!!!!!!

Wish the best.!

if you don't bother about privacy much and rely on facebook's security, you can add him and if you suspect he may be stalking your personal life/affairs that you would only want to share with close friends, you can 'restrict' him by adding him to restricted list, this way he will be able to see only your public posts and information. If you have only intimate friends and family on your profile then you must not add a stranger who you met out of business to your friends list. they may be bad for your connections as well!

I am partially a waitress and I've accepted a regular customer as a friend on Facebook. He kept messaging me but it didn't get awkward. He felt more comfortable around me once we had spoken outside of the café.
However...
He went a little awkward when he saw on Facebook that I was seeing (not in a relationship) with a guy.
But he got over it.

It could potentially cause issues but on the other hand, you may get along with the customer. Just as long as you remain professional when at work.
