Computer Issues (Downloading and Internet Explorer)?

Computer Issues (Downloading and Internet Explorer)?
I recently got a new computer and I've been having issues with it lately. It has started opening up links from Google in a separate tap, which isn't too big of a problem but it is irritating because I'm used to being able to just backspace, I'm not sure how to change that. But my biggest issue with Internet Explorer is that some stupid 'GrabRez' thing got downloaded somehow and now I can't get rid of it. It pops up ads all the time, it does not appear in Control Panel - Programs, so I cannot uninstall it there, I can't disable it in the add-ons menu, and I've gone to the webpage where it brings you if you click on it to 'uninstall/disable' it, clicked disable countless times, attempted to reset Internet Explorer and restart the computer but that doesn't work either. How can I get rid of that?
The second issue (that I've noticed) is that it won't download or open a lot of files that I want to download/open. It wouldn't open a PDF from my teachers website that I needed for school, but it did open one for a game guide, and it won't download any add-ons and what not for computer games (SC4 add-ons from Simtropolis, for example). I don't believe that it is my internet because Xbox Live works, and the PDF I was able to download on my parent's 4 or 5 year old laptop. I click download, on the bottom of Internet Explorer it pops up 'open; save; open and save' then no matter whether I click to save or not, it will save if I chose to, starts to download, but then it will pop up saying some error code or just simply say something like 'file could not be found'. Any idea why? Any and all help would be much appreciated.
P.S - If it helps any my computer is a Windows 7 Professional with a 2.53GHz processor, and has a 64-bit Intel Operating System with 4 GB of RAM.
I'm not very good with computers and have no idea what that means or if it will even help, but there it is just in case.

It is because you're using Internet Explorer, Posting about problems with IE on Yahoo Answers is going to get you the same answer. Go and download and install either Firefox or Google Chrome (recommended) Internet Explorer is the worst or the worst, avoid it at all cost.

I believe you're asking a few things, but I think the first debugging step is the same for all of them. Let's reset your options.

If your menu bar doesn't show up, right-click on the top of the window next to the open tab or just below it, and click "Menu Bar." If that doesn't work, hit the Alt key to pop it down. Once you have your menus, go to Tools, then at the bottom Internet Options.

Once you're in the Internet Options dialog, go to the right-hand pane "Advanced" and at the bottom there are two Reset buttons. When you do 'Restore Advanced Settings' it will revert all the checkboxes on that pane back to their defaults, which is a good thing.

When you click "Reset...", a second window pops up. Check the "Delete personal settings" checkbox and hit Reset. This should solve problems with addons and third party code in Internet Explorer.

Finally, go to the Programs tab, click Manage Addons, and for the first screen "Toolbars and Extensions" highlight everything and click "Disable All" on the bottom right. This will make it so we can be totally confident third party code isn't running from within IE (though they could still be manipulating things from an external executable, such a thing is very rare).

Your browser will still execute javascript and do the things it needs to do with everything disabled unless you use very specialized sites with lots of custom programming. I doubt you'll use such sites unless you're on a corporate network.

Try those, see how things pan out, and let me know if we need to dig further?

Hi There,

You have identified the problem "GrabRez" which is addware that somehow was downloaded and installed on your computer. There is a link below that has instructions for removal.

If that does not work then you probably can download, install and run Malwarebytes to remove.
Do a search for "malwarebytes" for the address.

Hope this helps,
Al

IE has picked up a virus you need to get rid of it first If you are using a paid subscription virus program you are getting ripped off, look for advanced system care this gives you an un-install program then look for superantispyware both free versions work just like the paid with a few differences low cost programs but I will stand by them If you want IE then that is fine I have no problem with that al though you may have to un-install it then run anti virus program and re install IE

Look in your browser settings for the choice of opening links in current or new tab. That's where it should be.

Here are instructions for removing grabrez: http://www.anti-spyware-101.com/remove-grabrez

I'm not really clear on the downloading issue you're having... It suddenly can't find the file half way through downloading it? Does this only happen on certain web sites or with certain types of files? Does this only happen when you use Internet Explorer or do you have the same issue with other browsers?

Hello Nicholas Green, try to run Malwarebytes, and remove every detected threats http://www.techchore.com/2014/01/malwarebytes-beta.html

Then, try google chrome or firefox browsers. Internet explorer is not really a good browser.

If this do not solved your issue, try to System Restore your PC
