How can I attract more people to my facebook group?

I've read articles about where people have started facebook pages for their pets and such. Many these helped dogs find homes and recently, a dog whose head was stuck in plastic container got some help because a photo of him was posted on facebook.

I started a facebook group for my beagle who I am determined to find, I've posted flyers and have 2 online ads. I only have 3 active members in my group so far but would like to add more.

Besides posting a link on other sites, how can I attract more people to my facebook group?

ask your buddies and post your group's link to maximum pages and groups,mention your aim as well!!
