Display advertising - tags?

Hi All,

I've been contacted by an ad network in-regards to having their tags put on our website to display banners and track results. They stated that they are looking to spend $0.50 - $0.75 eCPM - my question is how do I know the amount of impressions their ad received and can they pay different amounts? They're under the impression there is a system in place so they bid against someone else to get the impression, what sort of system can help me implement this?

There are ad servers out there that the big buys use to place ads onto pages and log the details, there's one open source Ad Server Xsomething... that might do the job for you. Actually their tag sounds like it might tie into an ad server, I suspect you would be expected to trust their control panel data.
