How do I get my local service into search engines online?

I am a computer enthusiast and have been repairing them for years. I have my own website and give out my business cards but I want people who live near me to be directed to it when they type computer repair on a search engine like yahoo or google. Please give me some ideas and hints where to look for information about this, what service works best or what approach should I consider. Thank you in advance.
