I can't edit photos on Instagram.?

I recently installed Instagram on my Samsung Galaxy X-cover.
I tried uploading pictures and when I wanted to edit them, before publishing them, it didn't work. It would simply not show the effect, no matter which one I chose. If I simply added an effect and published, it completely ruined my picture. I was unable to even recognize the picture because now it was pixalated..
Can anyone help me solve my problem please?
