Is selling on craigslist safe?
Ok so I have this Android Tablet that I won at school (Legally Ok) but honestly I don't really want it, it's a Trio Stealth Pro and I Rooted the Google Play store on it and I fixed it up all nicely and its a pretty decent tablet but I don't really find use in it for me and its really just there collecting dust, I want to sell it on craigslist for $150 and use the money to help buy myself a 3DS XL to play Pokemon X when it comes out (And today conveniently Nintendo brought out a Pure Black 3DS XL in America and target is selling it for $175 (original price is $199) and it looks so nice and formal Smile but I asked my dad for advice and he says that what I'm trying to do is like a Double Edged sword cuz there's always a possibility I might get scammed when selling it, I know craigslist is more of an Ad Posting site but with eBay you gotta pay to post your products and you still gotta pay for Shipping and Handling
So is it really safe to sell stuff on craigslist or can anyone give me some good tips for selling it if I do ultimately, I live in the Fort Worth Texas area btw
Thanks
(Also if anyone's interested on buying just message me and we can discus it Wink

Craigslist (or any site) is only as safe as you make it. You can google how to be safe on CL for more info. You do have to pay shipping, ebay fees, and paypal fees on eBay but you also wont get as much for the item on CL. Plus you need to have good ratings and worry about returns on ebay.

How would you possibly get scammed? Most cragislists transactions happen in person. You bring the tablet, they buying brings cash.

Of course you could get robbed or murdered when you meet the buyer, but not scammed.

Craigslist is ONLY for face to face CASH transaction or you are being scammed. Always meet the buyer in the public location of your choice - Starbucks, public library, hotel lobby, mall food court, etc
Anyone wanting to pay with check/money order will send you a fake one. Anyone asking to pay with Paypal will pay with a hacked account hoping you ship the item before the real account holder reports the theft and Paypal withdraws the money. NEVER ship anything anywhere or it's a scam
Read Craigslist's scam warning page http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams
As long as you deal with local buyers, meet in a public location with other people around and get cash in hand before you hand over the item, you won't get scammed
When listing anything electronic (games consoles, tablets, laptops, phones, etc) be sure to put something like CASH ONLY, LOCAL BUYERS ONLY, NO SHIPPING, NO EXCEPTIONS in your ad and ignore everyone wanting anything else. The scammers will target you with electronics. Last time I tried to list a phone, I had 6 scammers contact me within 24 hours all claiming to be out of town or wanting me to ship to a brother/son/cousin overseas or in another state. Ignore them all - don't even reply or they will spam you
