How to connect HP laptop to internet?

And i don't know how to connect to the internet. I'm not tech savvy so i'm really confused about this as with my iphone and ipad i've just had to enter my code and then i'm good to go, but now it's asking for a username and password and when i entered what i thought it would be it said it was wrong/couldn't connect. Do i need wires? I have the BT infinity black router with the pull out thing with the codes on so i tried them but no luck? I'm really confused please help.

You need to connect it to the router. I'm surprised the laptop doesn't have a wireless assistant.

Look at the specs for your laptop on the HP site. Go to the help forum. They can help or you can contact HP who can walk you through this.

You can also go to the router website and talk to them about it.

I'm not tech savvy either but there were directions with the router, modem and my laptop that helped me to set it up.
