can people selling things online scam you?
So I really want this nice jacket. Its from a movie and I have been looking for a good replica not a cheap alternative that doesn't look like the one from the film. I have been looking for a few days and I found one that looks exactly like it! But the picture is the same picture of the exact jacket from the movie that sold for over $20,000. Im really worried they are just showing that picture but then it will be a cheap plastic leather jacket that doesn't look anything close to the one in the movie. But its just a basic jacket anyone who knows how to make them could.

Can they do that? Can people selling things online show pictures of high quality items but they give you something crappy?
thank you guys for the great answers! :-)

yes they can...and unless the jacket your looking at is 20,000$ I doubt it't the actual jacket you might want to add a link to the jacket so you can get a second opinion. People get scammed on the web all the time...if your ever skeptical look up the website and see if you can find some reviews. Type in (whatever the website is) ______.com reviews and see what comes up. Hopes this helps

Ask them if they have more pictures. Ask them what it is made out of and whether it is stiff or soft. Find out what the return policy is.

Sometimes things online are not as nice as you thought or hoped from the picture. But have almost never been scammed. I have bought literally over 1000 things online and rarely had a problem other than me not reading the description properly, or sometimes I buy things that don't fit as well as I hoped. Or sometimes I assume things that are not shown and stated (like I thought a pair of slacks were khaki fabric but they were stretch pants). I went to a business party tonight and realized everything I was wearing except my underwear/slip came from Ebay - skirt, blouse, shoes, cardigan, coat - all from Ebay at various times.

I do most of my buying on Ebay and Amazon where sellers care about the ratings they get from buyers since everyone can see that. I also use Paypal for all Ebay purchases and any other time I can because then the only place that has my credit card number is Paypal. The only times my credit card number has been stolen were from in-person purchases, never online.
