My 18 y/o GED drop wont make any headway with his life?
First off I have done everything humanly possible fir him to stay in school since he was 10. You name it: homeschooling, sitting on the classrooms, and a 2 different GED programs.

My issue is the what happens now. Yea I love my only child and wants whats best for him to land on his own feet. Last year he began disrespecting me, so I put him out twice and he went to live with my siblings. Now my sister and brother also put him out citing lack of ambition to try some sort of skills program. Today I had a discussion with him about letting me see that he is attempting to job hunt (in spite of the challenges with that). He said now he wants to be an actor or become a recording artist. I then said that I need to see some sort of indication that he is striving towards that goal. I even immediately went to my facebook page and emailed a professional actor I went to high school with for some leads.

Then my son began to say Im putting him down and then began to point out my shortcomings as well as my siblings he stayed with last year. I closed down the conversation by letting him know that I cannot afford to take him to England with me in September while I work on my PhD so that he can lay around playing video games for 3 years like he does at home all day and night.

These days, Im glad he is not on drugs or selling it or anything that involves the street life. But at the same time I need to make decisions for my life a

You have tried and he hasn't. Its up to him to make a change. Hopefully he will get tired of living the way he does and set goals for himself. The only thing you can do is encourage him.
