How does adding custom domain to a my blogger site works?
Just wanted to clarify, if a add custom domain for my *.blogspot blog what will happen to my blog? Does it affect my page rank or my SEO link that I've created from my *.blogspot site? How avout redirection? basically I am worried about the redirection. If added the custom domain, would a retain my blog contents such that only the domain has been changed? Please help me..
How about SEO? also individual pages?

Here are a couple of different guides to custom names:

http://support.google.com/blogger/bin/st...page=ts.cs
Google says:
"Your original Blogspot address will automatically forward to your new domain. That way, any existing links or bookmarks to your site will still work." (So should any link juice at least for a time)

You can obtain the domain name anywhere, I would not use Google just to keep then out of my business, Godaddy and Namecheap are a couple popular sources.

What actually happens is that your blogspot address still exists alongside the new domain, so the blogspot domain retains the incoming links for page rank unless you get them changed.
Note that in SEO terms, pagerank refers to the rank acquired by incoming links - if the links are to your new domain, then the pagerank will follow, if they are to the blogspot domain, they will lend pagerank to that domain.
What you are probably after is SERP (search engine rank position), this will take time to establish, but as I say, the blogspot domain will get exactly the same poistion as before - all the posts will remain and will appear on both the blogspot address AND the new domain. Eventually your new domain will begin to get into search results.
By the way, here's a much missed point: The term 'page' rank came about because Larry PAGE came up with it, not because it relates to a web page...
