Why has my internet been so slow the last couple of weeks?
I live with other people and the owner of the house I live in handles the internet. I just have a wireless USB adapter that I plug in to get my internet, and I don't have the fastest one either. Because there is different USB adapters that you can plug in to get faster internet, right? The better ones cost more. Anyway, my internet was fine until a couple of weeks ago when the owner of the house gave me a new wireless network to connect to, with a new password. Ever since then, my internet has been lagging. Videos and pages load so SLOW. I don't get it, my signal is very good, 4-5 bars at all times. My computer is not overloaded, either. I don't have many programs or video games installed. My computer is virus free as I run scans occasionally. So what the hell is going on? Why the sudden change in my internet speed? Is it the modem or something, cuz I don't have that, the owner does.
Yeah, I just checked speedtest.net and my upload speed is a pathetic 0.09 Mbps!!! My download speed is 1.16 Mbps. Jesus christ... looks like I'll be spending more time in the gym because there is no reason to be on the computer with this kind of internet!!!

http://www.speedtest.net/‎

Will tell you your connection speeds. If low the answer is obviously the network.

Internet speeds depends on which data plan you have selected. To get fastest speed you should choose 3G data plan.

Looks like earlier you were using mobile internet & now you are using WiFi. It is strange that WiFi is slower than mobile internet.

In any case, first check the speed of your net connection through http://www.speedtest.net. Mostly, it will answer all your queries.

Whatever he did to the connection is at fault. Perhaps he downgraded his service or wanted more bandwidth for himself and modified the router settings so you get less. Not much you can do on your own. Ask the owner, or accept your free service as is, unless you were paying for it partially, then speak up.
