Opinions on my beauty business?
My idea is:
-Face bars: solid bars which are specific to certain skin types or conditions. So for example if you have acne prone skin then there is a honey bar - or sugar scrubs for exfoliating as well as aloe vera bars for sensitive skin
-Medical Bars: such as aloe vera bars for burns, anti-bite bars etc.
-Face Masks - all natural and once again for certain conditions
-Hair masks, as above
-Soaps

All of these products are 100% natural and specific to a certain condition or skin type, I generally don't see these bars on the market and would be especially good for people who travel a lot because they don't count as a liquid, and we have the anti-bite, suncream bars etc.

Selling wise I'm thinking telecommunications so specifically etsy and our own website. Social media will be really important of course and as well as that we will go and sell in fairs and markets.

Please give and advice and of course constructive criticism is welcome.

Thank you!

Etsy, eBay are okay because they bring in the customers. Starting with your own website isn't going to do much. Nobody will know you are there.

I like the travel niche. It shows that you are thinking about what you have to offer that people might be willing to pay a premium for. It may also help you get into particular outlets, like airport shops. I can imagine some travelers being willing to buy a travel pack that includes something like facial cleansing bar, body cleansing bar, hair bar, laundry bar, skin-soothing bar, solid deodorant and mini-toothbrush with tooth-cleansing powder. That's seven things, none of them liquid. Charge about what you would have for 5 -6 of them individually, and people who otherwise would only have bought two things will buy the whole kit. If they like it well enough traveling, they may become regular customers when they're at home.

A word of caution: There will be compliance issues that you wouldn't have if you were making, say, paperweights. Find out what standards you must meet to comply with safety and sanitation rules for toiletries.

Also, make sure to mind the business part. Write a good business plan, and set up a good bookkeeping system right from the the start. You may have to adjust them as you go, but take the time to do your best at the start. It will be harder to make time to do so after you are hip-deep in making soap.

Best of luck!

You will need to prove that you have tested and researched your product and can back up your claims to be able to successfully sell on the open market.

Also you will need to be able to justify your production methods and that they meet any Health and Safety concerns and that you have if need be have had your production facilities checked by Environmental Health.

Environmental Health will want you have done a risk assessment on all the products use and you will need to be particularly careful with items promising results with thing like burns.

Public Liability Insurance will be important as well in case you cause harm to someone with your products.

Get real, why would the millions of ladies leave their already known sources for makeup in order to take a chance on yours. Unfortunately you are an unknown in the beauty industry and stand no chance. Not quite the advice you are looking for but you will save a lot of money and stress if you take it.
