Of course, because all modem are made to be used on broadband line & each modem is comfortable with any connection like Airtel's modem on BSNL's line even Airtel modems are better than any other but BSNL is such bad than Airtel. Forget it, no problem get the BSNL connection.

LoL sorry i forget the question, right answer here :
Of course because buying a modem is optional. But bare in mind that the username & password will be different. If you use PPPoE(When pc is started connects to internet automatically) mode you need to configure the modem ( Only change username & Password ) or if u use Bridge mode,(Connect manually from the computer named as "Broadband" etc.) when you open the panel to connect you can see at the middle of panel Username : xxxxxxxxx password : xxxxxxx just change it and connect.

NO. BSNL mandates buying a modem.
They will still charge you monthly as modem rent. If you are looking for long term commitment, better to buy a modem.

Hitesh is right.

You cant just plug in an Airtel Modem & make it work with BSNL connection. It is not as simple as others here say. I'm not saying it's impossible.... but a lot of firmware configuration has to be done which is beyond the knowledge of an average computer user.

Modems provided by BSNL are specially tailored for their connection & therefore recommended. Believe me you wont save much if you dont buy new modem......... It will cost you a horrible experience if ur broadband connection works pathetically due to improper configuration.
