first time selling on ebay?
ive had my ebay account for a week or so now n i'm kinda new to internet based selling. my usually method is: people inbox me on facebook to tell me what drawings they want > i tell them how much it is > i then draw the requested picture > i send the picture to them > they pay me or if their quite far, they pay me in playstation top up. this method doesn't get me much though, 5 or 10 pounds a week at best. so now im curious as to how much i'd get if i sold my art on ebay n stuff, only ive got no idea how to get started. how do i get my art on ebay n what do i do once its been sold?

If you are at least 18, just read the help pages for new sellers.

In general you sell already completed Art and in exactly the same way as selling anything else.
You choose which category your listing should be listed under. From what i have seen, prices seem very low for original works of Art and there are thousands of pieces up at any one time.

Hi,

Because you are selling a product/service I would definitely recommend you explain the procedure well within your eBay description so the buyer knows the process once they have purchased a picture.

The most professional way to do this would be to use an eBay template. The reason for this is because then your listing is going to look as good as your designs. There are companies out there who design custom eBay selling templates which would be ideal for what you do. There are also readymade professional looking description templates which would suit you too. The pricing for these are around £5 for a readymade template or £45 for something bespoke.

These can be used as many times as you like in as many listings as you do. Check out my source for a company I recommend.

Needless to say their are many factors you left out. What kind of art do your do? Pencil sketches, water color or oil paintings? Do you plan to ship it with a frame on the picture? That is more expensive and you pay more duty on it. Years ago l was importing oil paintings from Germany, with the painting taken off of the frame, they were rolled up and placed in a tube, not duty no nothing but the shipping fees. l had to put the painting on a frame and l then had a saleable painting. Hope this helps you some.

As I think you can tell, once you are on ebay it will walk you through the steps of how to sell a product. The best part is it can arrange the price of shipping and process the payment. The great part is you don't need to handle those logistics. The negative is, ebay takes their share at every step of the way. But they reach people.

As far as what to display, show other works you have sold and clearly state, even in ALL CAPS or bold, that those images are for display purposes only. There are other people online who sell custom work and buyers aren't stupid. They want to see your style, then move to the next place. Say the size, price and lead time. If a customer can see your style and learn the particulars, you will get more sales.

You should also consider listing on Etsy. Once again, setting up and selling on Etsy is very easy. Once you have that store set up, make sure to pin your examples to Pinterest. Many of your buyers might be on Pinterest looking for someone like you.

Good luck with this endeavor.
