Why Is My Internet So Slow?
I have Hughes Net Gen4 and lately my internet connection has been really slow. Every once in a while it will speed back up, but it keeps getting slower and slower. I have a password on my wifi and the weather hasn't been that bad. When it gets slow,it usually only works from 3am-8am. Any idea what is wrong and how to fix it?

There could be a plethora of reasons.

- You pay for slow speeds
- Your router/modem sucks
- Your wireless card sucks
etc...

HughestNet Gen4 is a DSL internet provider. Like many DSL providers, DSL is quite slow and not for the typical gamer. It also tends to have high latency problems.

Are there anybody else in the family/house except you that is using the internet? They may be using all the bandwidth giving you the lesser portion (meaning high latency and lower download/upload speeds). I know for sure that Netflix takes A LOT of bandwidth especially when streamed in High Definition.

If you're a gamer or just someone looking for real high-speed internet, check out Charter. Instead of using a phone cord (kind of like using dial-up), you're using a TV cable to transmit the data. Many DSL speeds are based on the distance of your location from the internet provider whereas Cable Internet services do not and it doesn't really matter regardless of distance.

Conclusion: Get cable internet. If you can't afford cable internet, stick with DSL for a while and see if the company offering you the service can offer you a little higher speed with a small increase in monthly payments.
