Internet connection problems?
I have a windows xp operating system, and the other day a box popped up and I think that I may have clicked the wrong thing. The box read something like "This computer connects directly to the Internet. The other computers on my network connect to the Internet through this computer" or "This computer connects to the internet through a residential gateway or through another computer on my network". I don't quite remember what I clicked, but now it wont let me connect to wireless internet. It shows up and says the wireless internet is connected, but not the local connection or the internet. So, I really don't know what to do..

So you are part of a home network, are you? That is, other computers connect to the same router as you are using? If you click on the signla icon by your clock (bottom right-hand corner) and select Network Connections (or something like that in XP), can you see a red cross in the diagram that appears. If so, you are not connected. To check that, open command prompt - go to start, run, type in cmd and then type in this: ipconfig /all exactly like that. If you can see your IP configuration, you are connected.

It sounds like you accidently turned on internet connection sharing of some way. Here's how to turn it off. It might not work, but it's an easy fix if it does. http://hdc.tamu.edu/Connecting/ResNet/Di...ows_XP.php
