Perhaps you should try popular freelance sites like odesk.com or elance.com. There's plenty of work on these sites albeit lots of competition. So if you're willing to work for low rates at least until you build up a great rep, then you should be able to land some job rather quickly, that is depending on the skills you have. Hope this helps!
