opting out of interest based ads?

opting out of interest based ads?
Yahoo seems determined to assault me with "interest-based ads." I have selected "opting out", but to no effect. Any suggestions?

If some ads from site you had briefly visited are now 'stalking' you, they can be stopped typically be deleting your browser cookies (one was set when you visited the site) Some cookies act as useful shortcuts on sites you use, these would be lost too, some browsers allow you to delete cookies selectively from a list.
